I am a Ph.D. candidate in geography and a Graduate College Fellow at the University of Illinois. My research interests are in development geography, agrarian studies, and geographies of gender and sexuality. In my current research, I examine the seasonal migration of historically marginalized rural communities in western India and resulting social change in the home villages of these communities. Broadly, I am interested in understanding how the subaltern contest their positions of subjugation within structures of social power relations, especially those of caste, class, and gender.
