Welcome to Jie Tian's Homepage
I am currently a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I received my PhD (2008) and Master's (2004) both in Geography (GIS and Remote Sensing) from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario and The University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, respectively. My undergraduate training was received in Earth Science (major)and General Science (minor) from Beijing University, China. My research interests broadly focus on Geospatial Science & Technology and their application in Environmental Monitoring and Modeling, Landscape Ecolgoy, Public Health, Air Quality, Renewable Energy, etc. I teach a variety of courses including Introduction to GIS, Advanced GIS, Programming for GIS, Introduction to Remote Sensing, Cartography, and Statistical Methods in Geography.
